I wrote about the ethereal beauty of the Nebraska Sandhills in “Starkweather” I returned last week for two benefit signings, one at the American Legion in Stuart (population 580) and the other in the Bassett library (population 600 ), where I lived with my father, who was from Bassett, and mother and siblings for several years after WWII All in all, I sold and signed close to 80 books.
Who says you can’t go home again? It was a wonderful, inspiring two days. Incredible countryside and real cowboys.
